Global tributes honour 9/11 victims as allies remember America’s darkest day

Tributes and commemorations for 9/11 have not been limited to the United States. In London, a special changing of the guard ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace and at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, a wreath was placed beside a steel girder recovered from the North Tower, which is a permanent fixture at the complex. Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney recalled the support his country provided to its southern neighbour in its time of need.
