‘Flaming, stinking, garbage’: Democratic Party brand will help Republicans hold both houses

​Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer says the Democratic Party’s “flaming, stinking, garbage” brand may help Republicans hold the House of Representatives and the Senate. ​“At this point…I think a lot of people think I’m crazy; I think Republicans have a decent chance, frankly, of holding both houses of Congress come January,” Mr Hammer told News24 Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. ​“That’s not because Trump’s approval ratings haven’t sunk; they have, they’re not in a great place. ​“But it’s because the Democratic brand is in such a flaming, stinking, garbage, low place that I think a lot of voters will ultimately choose to vote against that rather than affirmatively for either party.” ​
