Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer says Democratic Socialists of America candidates outside of “far left jurisdictions” are in “quite a bit of trouble”. “In these very far left jurisdictions, I think that many of these DSA or DSA-adjacent candidates will be fine,” Mr Hammer told News24 Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. “The problem for Mr El-Sayed is that Michigan is not a far-left state; it’s actually a swing state, it’s one of the canonical swing states. ’Whether it’s Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan or Francesca Hong who infamously has now called to cancel the American holiday of Thanksgiving, whether I think it’s her in Wisconsin, I think these candidates are in quite a bit of trouble.”
