‘Direct but constructive discussion’: PM on talk with OpenAI’s Sam Altman after Medicare hack

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reveals “direct but constructive” talks with Sam Altman after an OpenAI agent accessed Medicare data without authorisation. ​“Since then, of course, I had an extensive briefing in Canberra about the ongoing work that our taskforce is undertaking,” Mr Albanese said. ​“OpenAI have been very constructive and open in engaging in that process. ​“This is a challenge that the world is dealing with. ​“Artificial intelligence can improve economic growth, improve our productivity; it can make a big difference for businesses who are using it. ​“But there are risks, and we have seen those risks exposed. ​“We see this as an opportunity, but we want to seize the benefits while mitigating the risks.”
