‘Damning indictment’: UK’s ‘ropy’ security at RAF Fairford under heavy scrutiny

Mr Slater said it’s astonishing the US has withdrawn its aircrafts from the RAF Fairford because “Britain was prided on the strength of its intelligent services”. “They were fortifying themselves because they were worried something like this was coming just by parking tractors up against some of the gates … that doesn’t seem to me to be particularly sophisticated although I don’t claim to be an expert,” he told News24 host James Macpherson. “It can’t be anything but really a damning indictment of the UK, and the perceived ability on the part of our allies for us is to be able to defend our assets … you can’t really blame them.”
