Former White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley says Bill Maher’s message on immigrants assimilating to American culture has “struck the nerves” of lefties. “A lot of people who want to come to this country and experience all of the gifts, and all of the blessings, and all of the opportunities, you know, there’s a trade-off there,” Mr Hogan told News24 host Danica De Giorgio. “If you really love your own culture and your own country so much you can stay there, there's no question about that. “Bill Maher has struck a nerve, I think, with a lot of liberals on the left who have kind of let it go by and let this cancer continue to fester and rot and grow on their side, and he’s calling them out. “I think he’s really making some waves.”
