‘Biggest spending spree’: Labor slammed as Australia’s debt hits $1 trillion

National’s Leader Matt Canavan blasts the Albanese Government over Australia’s $1 trillion debt, accusing Labor of wasting a massive economic windfall and embarking on an unprecedented spending spree. “We’ve known it’s going to be coming for a while; it’s just this government hasn’t done enough to prepare for it,” Mr Canavan told news24 host Sharri Markson. “This government they’ve actually received a massive windfall; there’s been a bigger term of trade boom since COVID than there was after the global financial crisis. “Unfortunately, this government has wasted most of that. “The Labor Party has engaged in the biggest spending spree we’ve ever seen outside of COVID or a recession.”
