An Australian hiker stranded in Nepal has made contact with her family back home after being caught in the flood disaster. 26-year-old Cara Severino had been cut off while hiking the Himalayan Langtang trek. She has since contacted her parents, who told The Australian she had been trying to reach Kathmandu on foot. She is the first known Australian to have survived the disaster; 38 are still among the nearly 2,000 missing.
