ASX expected to rise modestly as Wall Street wavers overnight

The ASX is expected to rise modestly with index futures up 0.1 per cent, according to CommSec’s James Gruber. “It follows Wall Street wavering overnight; tech shares took a bit of hammering,” Mr Gruber told News24. “The Semiconductor Index finished down almost four per cent. Some of the big names like Micron finished down that and more, and it was partly due to oil prices rising; they’re up almost two per cent as those attacks in the Saudi Arabia region, both on the main airport, as well as tankers in the region, impacted supplies of oil through the region as well as prices. “The Aussie dollar, meanwhile, is lower against the US dollar, which hit 18-month highs against other major currencies.” Presented by CommSec.
