American economic pressure belongs on Iran, not Canada

​Former US State Department of Sanctions Policy Coordinator Daniel Fried says America’s economic fire should be concentrated on adversaries like Iran, instead of Canada. ​“We Americans risk dissipating our strength if we pick on everybody at the same time,” Mr Fried told News24. ​“The Trump administration has made it harder to do trade deals with the Canadian government by insulting them, threatening them, and belittling them. ​“There was a good chance they would succeed, and although I don’t have the full details, it looks like the US got a little greedy. ​“There are some Canadian trading practices that are a problem, and we could have probably addressed that maybe more effectively.”
