Albanese calls Liberals referring ‘Melongate’ to AFP a ‘political stunt’

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the Liberals' decision to refer his comments on the Bush Deep podcast to the AFP is a “political stunt”. “We take our relationship seriously including our obligations for engagement including with Japan,” Mr Albanese said during Question Time. “I note that in a political stunt from the Opposition they have referred matters to the AFP. “The AFP is of course completely independent of the government, and they’ll undertake their work and I’m confident about that.”
