Wife of Malaysia's former PM Mahathir Mohammad dies at age 100

Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, the wife of Malaysia's former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohammad, has died at the age of 100. A pioneering Malaysian doctor and public health advocate, she was among the first Malay women to pursue medicine. Her distinguished career spanned several decades, during which she held senior positions in Malaysia's public health service, including roles in maternal and child health. She was a strong champion of women's health, family planning, drug abuse prevention, and adult literacy. She married Mahathir in 1956, and the couple had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, sharing seven children together.
