Pop-up restaurant Terumbu is run by Orang Laut SG founder Firdaus Sani, a fourth-generation Orang Pulau and Orang Laut whose family hails from Pulau Semakau. With his mother heading the kitchen and fellow islander descendants involved, it’s a family affair centred on sharing the community’s culture through food. Terumbu runs until Dec 26 at Chef X in Clarke Quay Central. An initiative by Far East Organisation, Chef X gives home-based and private-dining cooks the opportunity to operate a commercial restaurant for a limited period, with a professional kitchen, dining space and mentorship.
