Massive wildfire closes Indonesia’s Mount Bromo National Park

Indonesia’s Mount Bromo national park has been closed since Saturday evening (Aug 8 ) after a wildfire which was burning since Aug 3 expanded to the park’s popular “sand sea” caldera area. On Monday (Aug 10), authorities say the fire has been extinguished after it burnt 550 hectares of the national park. However, they added that new hotspots have emerged and are likely to spread on Monday.
