Nearly a thousand people have been arrested across France following another wave of nationwide anti-government protests over the rising cost of living. Unions say 800,000 people took to the streets, while the government puts the figure at 400,000. Most rallies were peaceful, but violence broke out in several cities, prompting police to use tear gas and water cannon. More than 70,000 security personnel were deployed to prevent a repeat of last weekend's unrest. But with more protests and a nationwide public sector strike planned, the movement shows no signs of slowing down. Ross Cullen reports for CNA from Paris.
