Flu activity in Singapore at its highest since 2024. Latest weekly statistics show that 44% of respiratory lab samples tested positive for influenza. That's more than double since the start of August, before the haze first crossed into the unhealthy range. Doctors say the poorer air quality can worsen flare-ups in patients. Findings show that, for every 10-point increase in fine particulate matter, emergency department visits for respiratory conditions rise by about 3%. The Communicable Diseases Agency says there is no strong evidence that the haze worsens influenza. Eugene Chow reports.
