A faulty dry rising main during a fatal fire at Block 309 Clementi Avenue 4 on Friday (Jul 31) forced firefighters to haul hoses directly from the fire engine at ground level to the affected eighth floor via the staircase, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said on Aug 2.
