Dr H A Hellyer on effectiveness of Washington's 'economic asphyxiation' of Tehran

Iran has criticised the US' campaign to cripple its economy. Tehran said the widened sanctions will have limited impact, with key trading partners unlikely to fall in line. Its economy minister said the country is prepared for the sanctions. Meanwhile, Washington has also been receiving a lot of pushback from its "economic asphyxiation" of Iran, after threatening to impose sweeping penalties against countries and businesses that refuse to cut economic ties with Tehran. Dr H A Hellyer from the Royal United Services Institute for Defence discussed the effectiveness and possible impact of the sanctions.
