Xinjiang desert's giant 'power bank' helps supply electricity to homes

A massive energy storage facility featuring five colorful, 200-meter-wide circular discs has risen among the sand dunes of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Functioning as a giant "power bank" with a capacity of 4 million kWh, the station stores wind and solar energy to power hundreds of thousands of homes daily.
