The Zunyi Conference turned the campaign around – a case of self-correction and conviction at the moment it was needed most. Decades later, veteran American journalist Harrison Salisbury traveled to China to uncover the story firsthand. He called it the ultimate watershed moment, in his book The Long March: The Untold Story. More than 90 years on, people from around the world still come to see where it happened.
