This is how Chinese community workers handle complaints

Du Boxi, a community worker in Beijing's Changping District, has become known online for his upbeat videos about handling residents' complaints through China's 12345 public service hotline. When Du started the job in 2021, he handled hundreds of complaints a year, ranging from property disputes and noise complaints to parking issues. Over time, Du learned that residents often care as much about how their complaints are handled as the outcome itself. By listening, showing empathy and treating each case as if it were his own family's concern, he gradually earned the residents' trust. Since 2025, Du has been sharing his work on social media, offering a candid look at the demanding day-to-day work of community workers and encouraging his peers to stay positive and patient.
