Wildfires continue to burn across British Columbia, Canada, with authorities warning of dangerous and rapidly changing conditions. The province declared a state of emergency on August 8, forcing more than 20,000 people to evacuate their homes. Properties have been destroyed, and some residents were trapped as the fire advanced rapidly. The fires have grown so intense they're creating their own weather systems, generating lightning that sparks new blazes and makes conditions highly unpredictable.
