Stringer Dispatch: Nepal mudslide survivor recalls the moment disaster hit

A severe mudslide disaster devastated the China-Nepal border areas on August 26. The disaster, triggered by a high-mountain glacier collapse in Nepal's border area, has caused significant casualties and left many people missing on both sides. As floodwaters recede, survivors in Nepal return to salvage belongings and shovel thick mud and debris from damaged multi-storey buildings. Local schools were turned into temporary shelters, yet rebuilding remains a huge struggle. A local resident recalls a critical moment when she tried to reach her daughter as the flood was coming.
