Hope for the Future - General Bernard Loeffke and His Family

Retired US Army Major General Bernard Loeffke has enjoyed a distinguished career. As well as becoming a highly-decorated general, this former aide to Henry Kissinger also had the honor of being involved in a breakthrough moment in history: President Nixon's 1972 visit to China. In the years following the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States in 1979, Loeffke continued to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples through traditional Chinese medicine, education and youth exchanges. What's more, his children have demonstrated their determination to build on his efforts, visiting China on many occasions. So it is that a bond of friendship forged by one man has strengthened across the years.
