G216 roadwork improves a key stretch about 1 km from Gyirong Port's core disaster area

Rescue teams are widening, leveling and reinforcing a 1-kilometer stretch of the G216 National Highway about a kilometer from the core disaster area of mudslide-hit Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. The work has been hampered by heavy rainfall and water seeping into the roadbed, making the unstable section difficult to repair.
