From the Desert to the UN Stage: A 40-year journey

From the Mu Us Desert to the United Nations stage, it has been a 40-year journey for Chinese sand-control pioneer Yin Yuzhen. Recently honored by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, she reflects on decades of planting trees and reclaiming barren land. Her story has reached far beyond China, thanks in part to an enduring friendship with an American teacher, Ronald Sakolsky. Decades ago, he raised $5,000 to support her tree-planting efforts. CGTN's Tian Wei speaks with both of them again following the award ceremony. #FAO #WorldFoodDay #WorldFoodForum #desertification #China #YinYuzhen #environment #Sakolsky 00:00 - Intro 00:50 - Yin Yuzhen's award 03:11 - Sakolsky's support 04:41 - World Food Forum 08:58 - Yin's transformation 11:59 - Spreading the story 📺 Subscribe to our YouTube channel and stay updated with our latest analysis and interviews:👇 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgrNz-aDmcr2uuto8_DL2jg 👈 Download our APP on Apple Store (iOS): https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cctvnews-app/id922456579?l=zh&ls=1&mt=8 Download our APP on Google Play (Android): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.imib.cctv For more: https://www.cgtn.com/video Most watched videos: Impossible Challenge: 30 seconds to count banknotes BLINDFOLDED https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmP_Ybj-jws Impossible Challenge: Gymnastics Boy Arat Hosseini from Iran! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sxX--U4c8w Impossible Challenge: How to calm babies in 5 seconds? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR3q9sXM7WA
