There are big questions looming over Nigel Farage and his party at the 2026 Reform UK conference. While his year started off on a high with huge wins across the May elections - Farage is now faced with the latest revelations about the Reform party's apparent attitude to donations. On Thursday an investigation, filmed by Verbatim Investigations and broadcast by Channel 4 News, shows a senior Farage aide appearing to suggest a way to get around electoral law to secure a foreign donation of £500,000 for the party. Channel 4 News also says Reform commissioned three polls costing £32,500 in total and that the public was not told who commissioned or funded them. Not disclosing such funding would be illegal and accepting this kind of foreign funding would also be illegal. Reform denies any wrongdoing and claims to have "been the target of a hoax perpetuated by foreign funded climate change activists". This latest news comes after a summer of turbulence for Farage - as the Reform leader announced that he would resign from his role as Clacton MP to hold a by-election in his constituency. The Reform leader said he wanted the people of Clacton to be the judges of his actions following questions about a £5m “unconditional gift" he had received from the crypto-billionaire Christopher Harborne. Winning the Clacton by-election, the parliamentary investigation into the £5m gift has now resumed.
