US official says ‘constructive’ Iran talks continue but nuclear issues delay deal

A US official has told Al Jazeera mediated talks with Iran are “positive and constructive”, but there'll be no deal unless nuclear issues are addressed. It comes as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been meeting with mediators in New York. On Friday, Araghchi said a proposal from Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was presented to the US through Qatari mediators. Araghchi said if Washington agreed to it, the strategic waterway would reopen within a week. US President Donald Trump then said he's rejected Iran's proposal.
