UN mission says US may have committed war crimes in Iran, accuses Tehran of crimes against humanity

A UN-backed fact-finding mission says there are “reasonable grounds” to believe the United States committed war crimes during air strikes in Iran in February, including an attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school in Minab that killed more than 150 people, including many children. The mission also accused Iranian authorities of crimes against humanity during a crackdown on nationwide anti-government protests, citing alleged unlawful killings, torture, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances. The findings are based on interviews, satellite imagery, video and other evidence. Both governments have disputed or not publicly responded to the conclusions, while the US has said its military operations comply with the laws of armed conflict.
