A new 15,000-square-metre factory in central London is manufacturing precision components for drones, missiles, submarines and jet engines, marking the capital’s largest industrial facility to open since the Second World War. The project reflects a wider government push to revive Britain’s defence manufacturing base, with spending set to rise from $82bn in 2025 to $107bn by 2029, and weapons production jobs up 51 percent in the past year. Ministers have pledged $44bn for submarines, fighter jets and drones, alongside a commitment to meet NATO’s 3.5 percent GDP defence target by 2035.
