Trump confirms meeting with Iranian delegation as Qatar pushes diplomacy

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he took part in a meeting with an Iranian delegation as diplomatic efforts to end the US-Iran conflict intensify. The discussions come as Iran seeks an end to the blockade, which has placed further pressure on its economy. Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from Washington that Trump has outlined military, economic and diplomatic options, while Qatar is helping move the two sides towards renewed discussions. The talks could focus on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting the blockade and establishing a temporary ceasefire. At the United Nations in New York, correspondent Rosiland Jordan reports that the meeting with Iranian officials lasted about three hours and that Trump personally participated.
