Trump claims US controls Strait of Hormuz, attacks Democrats ahead of midterms

Speaking to reporters, Trump praised the US Navy’s operations in the strategic waterway and claimed more oil is passing through it than before the war. Trump also addressed the upcoming US midterm elections, saying Republicans would win and defending his campaign rallies. He criticised the media over questions surrounding a political advertisement targeting Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton and launched attacks on a Michigan Senate candidate. On trade, Trump said the US was close to reaching an agreement with Mexico, while Canada was also seeking a deal. He discussed North Sea oil development with the British prime minister and briefly addressed Ukraine and Russia.
