‘The Nakba never ended’: Zachary Foster on settler violence in the West Bank

Israeli settler violence and land confiscation in the occupied West Bank have reached record levels. In an interview with Al Jazeera, historian Zachary Foster said this is "the most right-wing government in all of Israeli history", with right-wing parties competing to be "the most violent and the most genocidal towards Palestinians". He said "the Nakba never ended", arguing that Israel has been on a "58-year project of expelling Palestinians" since 1967 through policies that strip Palestinians of residency and physical displacement. Foster said change will not come from within Jewish-Israeli society, citing polls which he said showed significant support for the expulsion and killing of Palestinians. He argued that pressure must come from outside through sanctions, boycotts, divestment, protests and direct action, pointing to Palestine Action's campaign against arms factories supplying Israel.
