Tens of thousands of civil servants have taken part in more than a hundred protests across France. Teachers, firefighters and healthcare workers participated in a nationwide strike. They demanded higher salaries and improved working conditions. Protesters are also unhappy with planned budget cuts ahead of next year's presidential election.
