Moscow is hosting the 9th Russian Energy Week, a major event for discussing the development of the fuel and energy sector, adapting it to geopolitical shifts, and building new energy partnerships. It has brought together thousands of delegates and experts from around 100 countries. Al Jazeera’s Yulia Shapovalova says Russia remains one of the world’s principal energy producers and suppliers, despite international sanctions over the war in Ukraine. Delegates are discussing the transformation of oil and gas markets, investments in electric power, new energy, ecology and energy efficiency. But geopolitics prevails, and the question on everyone’s lips is the diesel supply deal between Russia and the US. The Energy Week paves the way for the eighth summit of heads of state and government of gas-exporting countries, which will take place later in October in the Russian capital. Al Jazeera’s Yulia Shapovalova reports from Moscow.
