MI5 Director General Ken McCallum has warned that the UK faces unprecedented security threats from hostile states, including Iran and Russia, as the agency's caseloads have quadrupled over the past decade. McCallum says Iranian-linked efforts to intimidate opposition figures and media in the UK have involved criminal proxies, with more than 20 arrests reported over the past year. The warning also highlights emerging risks linked to artificial intelligence, including its potential use in recruitment and biological warfare. McCallum stresses the importance of national resilience and protecting essential services, hospitals and businesses against evolving threats. Al Jazeera's Sonia Gallego reports.
