A new diplomatic push is underway in Tehran to prevent another military escalation involving the United States and Israel, as senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan, the three countries behind the Mecca Defence Agreement, have held talks with Iranian leaders. The four countries agreed to continue discussions on regional peace and security. Al Jazeera's Tohid Asadi reports from Tehran that diplomatic engagement has intensified amid growing fears of renewed confrontation. Analysts say the talks could address a possible non-aggression agreement, Yemen and regional security arrangements. At the White House, Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports that US officials have emphasised President Donald Trump's control over Washington's next steps, while warning of further military action if Iran's position remains unchanged. Security analyst Atif Abiad believes Saudi Arabia wants to avoid being drawn into another US-Israeli confrontation with Iran. Zahid Mahmood, a retired Pakistani major general and defence analyst, says Pakistan is seeking to prevent a wider regional war through diplomacy, confidence-building measures and its proposed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
