Indonesia earthquake kills dozens as powerful aftershocks hamper rescue efforts

A powerful magnitude-7.7 earthquake has struck Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province, killing at least 47 people and forcing around 2,000 others to evacuate. Strong shaking lasting at least a minute was followed by powerful aftershocks, leaving many families afraid to return home and sleeping outside. Authorities are working to deliver food, water, blankets, tents and other essential supplies to affected communities. Dozens of homes and buildings have suffered severe damage, while rescue teams continue searching for victims. In Manggarai, the bodies of a woman and child were found together beneath the rubble.
