Germany's state premiers back Friedrich Merz amid political pressure

Eight of Germany's 16 state prime ministers have issued a statement backing Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as his government faces political pressure ahead of state elections in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The state premiers, all from Merz's CDU or its Bavarian ally CSU, said they support his efforts to address Germany's challenges and restore prosperity.
