From Darfur to Ceuta: Migrant’s journey driven by hope for family

Hundreds of migrants remain in Ceuta waiting to find out what happens next, with many camping on the beaches and their future in the hands of authorities. Twenty-nine-year-old Ahmed Haroun, originally from Sudan's Darfur region, is one of them. He said he has been trying to reach Europe for four years to help his surviving family members, having lost many relatives already. "I will fight for them. I will do anything just to help them," he said. He said he had achieved his dream by reaching Ceuta and is not afraid of being deported. "Everyone here just died one time. No one can die two times," he said. He expressed hope for a humanitarian response, saying they are waiting to hear what authorities will decide.
