Food and fuel shortages deepen humanitarian crisis in Yemen's Taiz

Al Jazeera English3 hours ago1:47

Residents of Yemen's Taiz are facing a worsening humanitarian crisis as renewed fighting and a prolonged blockade disrupt access to essential supplies and services. Severe shortages of food and fuel have driven up prices, leaving families struggling to afford basic necessities amid deteriorating security conditions and continued attacks on civilian areas. The city's healthcare system is also under increasing pressure, with medical workers warning that dwindling supplies of medicines, equipment and fuel could force critical hospital departments to suspend services. Emergency appeals have been issued for the reopening of main access routes to allow medical assistance to reach patients. Years of conflict have severely weakened public services, while intensified fighting and continued displacement are placing further strain on already overstretched facilities. Residents remain desperate for relief as the humanitarian situation deteriorates. Al Jazeera’s Hadeel al-Yamani reports from Taiz, Yemen.
