The Sudanese army has retaken Bara, a strategic town in North Kordofan state that had been held by the Rapid Support Forces since July. But the victory has come at a devastating cost: homes and public buildings destroyed, the main hospital in ruins, and thousands of residents still displaced. Inside the town's main hospital, the destruction is stark, with a wrecked ambulance outside and the emergency and operating rooms stripped and scattered with medical supplies. Bara sits on the Al-Sadat highway, a strategic route linking the region to Khartoum, making its control vital, though the front line and the threat of RSF drones remain close by. Al Jazeera's Almigdad Alruhaid reports from Bara, North Kordofan.
