Day one of BRICS summit in New Delhi: members show support for Palestine
Al Jazeera EnglishBRICS leaders have reached consensus on several issues despite divisions within the bloc at their summit in New Delhi. The New Delhi Declaration expresses deep concern over escalating tensions in the Gulf and calls for maximum restraint to avoid a wider regional war, without naming any country. BRICS nations also oppose the forced displacement of Palestinians and condemn geographic or demographic changes to Gaza. The declaration supports the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.
