No further parliamentary action is necessary against Workers’ Party leaders Sylvia Lim and Faisal Manap over findings that they lied under oath, as the matter falls outside the legal time limit. Leader of the House Indranee Rajah explained in a ministerial statement in parliament on Tuesday (Jul 7) that the time bar provisions under the Parliament (Privileges, Immunities and Powers) Act (PPIPA) means that the current parliament can no longer impose any penalties for misconduct that took place during the first session of the 14th Parliament. She was speaking on the findings of the Committee of Privileges report over the Raeesah Khan case.
