Nearly one million investors have collectively lost approximately $3.81 billion on President Donald Trump's $TRUMP memecoin, according to an analysis by cryptocurrency analytics firm Nansen and reported by The New York Times. As of the end of June, 988,905 accounts experienced financial losses, representing about two-thirds of all $TRUMP buyers. The token has fallen approximately 97% from its peak price of $75.35 to around $1.69.
President Trump's recent financial disclosure revealed earnings of $636 million tied to the $TRUMP memecoin, and at least $1.4 billion in total crypto-related income over the reporting period. This income was largely from licensing agreements related to the memecoin and token sales promoted by Trump. While Trump's supporters have expressed trust in his public stance, some investors have described the situation as "almost a legal scam."
In parallel, Nansen revealed that 85% of wallets associated with World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a crypto startup co-founded by Trump's sons, were also underwater, with aggregate losses estimated at $83 million. The financial disclosures have sparked political debate, with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand calling for a ban on cryptocurrency memecoins created and promoted by government officials. Trump, however, has defended his crypto ventures.
