Standard Chartered's third-quarter pretax profit jumped 27% to $2.25 billion, exceeding analyst expectations. The bank attributed the strong performance to increased client activity in volatile markets, which boosted revenue in its wealth and global markets divisions. Standard Chartered, which generates most of its revenue in Asia and Africa, also raised its full-year income growth target for 2026 to above 7%, up from its previous estimate of in the middle of a 5-7% range. The profit compares to $1.77 billion in the same period a year earlier. Separately, net profit rose 46% to $1.5 billion, driven by cross-border trade loans and wealth management.
