Senator accuses Trump of profiting from Iran war

US Senator Chris Van Hollen has accused President Donald Trump of profiting from the war on Iran, labeling the situation "pure corruption." Van Hollen stated on X that Trump has "turned the White House into a pay-to-play casino" and continues to profit from "Americans’ pain – including the senseless war he started in Iran."

Speaking to MSNBC, Van Hollen further alleged that Trump "pocketed over a billion dollars" since returning to office, and that the president is "profiting from the illegal war that he started, along with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu."

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has threatened new strikes on Iranian nuclear sites and military ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated on Truth Social that the US Navy has removed all mines from the Strait and warned that any ship placing new mines will be "immediately and systematically destroyed." Space Force is monitoring the Strait.

Separately, Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaid met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, in Tehran to discuss a framework for managing ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The proposed framework includes a "joint temporary navigational corridor" and efforts to clear mines from the waterway.
