Saudi civil defense authorities announced on Wednesday that the danger alert has been lifted for the governorates of Khamis Mushait and Taif, following Houthi militia attacks that occurred on Tuesday. The General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense advised residents to continue following instructions, avoid gatherings and photography, and to call 998 in case of emergencies.
The Houthi militia claimed responsibility for attacking an airbase in the Khamis Mushait area. The attacks targeted civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushayt, Jazan, and Najran, resulting in 73 civilian injuries, including women and children, according to a military spokesman. The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen described the Houthi actions as "dangerous" and "hostile and irresponsible."
The Saudi Cabinet condemned the attacks as a "heinous act of aggression" and pledged to provide the highest level of medical care to the injured. The Saudi Foreign Ministry stated that the Kingdom would not tolerate attacks on its territory and resources and reserved the right to defend its sovereignty. The UN and the EU have also condemned the cross-border attacks, urging the Houthis to cease hostilities. The GCC Secretary-General and the Prime Minister of Pakistan also issued condemnations, with Pakistan reaffirming its solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
