A Russian drone strike on a residential high-rise building in Kyiv on Monday killed two people and injured at least nine, officials said. Prosecutors stated seven people were injured, while Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported 11 hurt, with three hospitalized.
The drone hit a 25-story apartment building in the capital’s Darnytskyi district between the 12th and 16th floors, according to the Kyiv Mayor. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had warned of a high-speed target heading toward Kyiv around the same time.
Earlier on Monday, debris from a downed drone fell near a building in Kyiv’s central Pechersk district and started a fire, which emergency crews quickly extinguished without casualties.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes, urging allies, particularly the US, for increased pressure on Russia. He stated that Russia continues these strikes and is prolonging the war, even as the US made proposals. Attacks in other Ukrainian regions killed at least six people, with shelling in Kharkiv injuring five in an apartment building collapse and a drone attack killing one person in Lozova.
