Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past day resulted in at least five deaths and 44 injuries, with a jet-powered drone striking a passenger train in Odesa Oblast. Ukrainian Railways CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi stated that the train, carrying 593 passengers including 15 children, was evacuated in time with no casualties reported.
Overnight, Russia launched 127 drones across Ukraine, with air defense systems downing 97. Twenty-seven drones penetrated defenses and struck 22 locations, with debris found at three additional sites. The U.N. Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine reported that July 2026 was the deadliest month for civilians since March 2022, with 437 killed and 2,610 injured, a 30% increase from June. Civilian casualties were 70% higher than the previous July, and child casualties reached their highest level since April 2022, with 17 children killed and 166 injured.
